Applying our narrative to Todorov's theory
Tzvetan Todorov's narrative theory suggests that all narratives follow a three part structure where they begin with equilibrium, where everything is balanced, progress as something comes along to disrupt that equilibrium, and finally reach a resolution, when equilibrium is restored. Here is our narrative applied to Todorov's theory:
Equilibrium
At the beginning of our narrative the main protagonist is seen taking his white mask off, exposing the word 'Weak' on his forehead. Although he is reluctant to do so, he leaves the house without his mask on.
Disruption
As he walks through the streets without his mask on, it is obvious that he doesn't fit in with society due to the way the public behaves towards him. As we see the reaction of his girlfriend when she sees him without his mask on, it is made very clear that he isn't fitting in.
Re-equilibrium
Equilibrium is then restored when the protagonist proves his label 'weak' wrong which leaves hm without a word on his head. He is now seen having fun alone and enjoying not covering up his identity. This encourages the rest of society to prove their label wrong by removing their mask, including his girlfriend The video ends by everyone removing their masks and starting to prove their label wrong.
