Analysis of Middle of the Night by The Vamps
I have decided to analyse a video of The Vamps as they are a boy band which is what we are using for our video. They are also of a similar genre of what our band is going to be from.

Lighting
The lighting on the band performance is blue and red lights and performed on a black background, which I think looks really effective. It makes the band performance look very professional and edgy which links to the indie/pop genre. I believe we could use this idea in our video by using the drama studio which is a black background and use the lights to make it look effective. 

Costume
All of the people in the video, both band performers and actors are wearing very plain clothing- no brands or logos. Therefore I think we should use this idea in our video by making our actors wear plain clothing and no brands as this may distract the audience to their clothing rather than the actual video. 

Camera
Throughout the video there is a range of angels and shots used in both the band performance. This makes the video more interesting if there is a range of shots. Some shots I have noticed that we could use in our video are: a shot of the band from behind, shot reverse shot, low angles of the bands and over the shoulder shots.

Locations
There isn't much of a range of locations that have been used in the narrative. I think this makes the narrative quite boring. Therefore I think that in our video, we should use a range of locations because I think this would keep the audience intrigued and interested in watching the full video. 

Editing
The editing the narrative is very slow in comparison to the performance. This is because the narrative is quite sad therefore the slow paced editing reflects this. The band performance is more crazy and is shown in the fast parts of the songs therefore the editing is quite fast paced. So in our video I think we should allow the editing to help convey the mood and tone of the video.
